		<abstract>This paper describes how cartographic literature has been applied to validate and control the quality, in terms of positional accuracy and topologic consistence, of the vector hidrography and digital terrain models produced in the scope of the mapping project being carried out by the Geographic and Cartographic Institute of the State of São Paulo (Brazil) at 1:25.000 scale.</abstract>
